To keep our world turning, let's keep the plastic journey going ♻️

Global Recycling Day takes place every March 18th, its purpose is to raise awareness of the importance of recycling and encourage people to take action to reduce waste and protect the environment.

This year, we are joining the initiative by bringing together our teams from across the world with an aim is to promote sustainable practices and highlight the benefits of recycling.

We're convinced that moving away from a linear model of "production-consumption-disposal " towards a circular "production-consumption-recycle" model will offer great benefits to all.

WHAT GOES AROUND

Despite growing demand for a move away from plastic packaging we're still at a stage where plastic provides optimal protective packaging for all our berries along their journey from field to table.

Firstly, plastic packaging helps to protect berries from damage during transportation around the world, ensuring that they reach you in the freshest possible condition. The clear plastic also allows to easily see the berries inside, which in turn helps reduce food waste.

Plastic packaging helps to extend the shelf life of berries by protecting them from moisture, light, and air. This means that you can enjoy our berries for longer, reducing food waste and saving money in the process.

Furthermore, plastic packaging is lightweight, making it more cost-effective to transport and reducing the carbon footprint associated with transport.

Above all, plastic is a recyclable material meaning the cycle of life can be extended to recreate future products, avoiding disposal.

Plastic packaging is a smart choice for growers and consumers who want to ensure that their berries stay fresh, look great, and last longer.

COMES AROUND

Recycling plastic is one of the most important things we can do to protect our planet. By recycling plastic, we can reduce the amount of waste in landfills, oceans, and other natural habitats, helping to preserve the environment for future generations.

In addition, recycling plastic saves energy and resources, as it takes less energy to recycle plastic than it does to produce new plastic from scratch. This means that we can reduce our reliance on fossil fuels and other non-renewable resources, reducing our impact on the environment and helping to combat climate change.

Furthermore, recycling plastic can create new jobs and economic opportunities in the recycling industry, providing a boost to local economies and helping to build more sustainable communities.

Overall, recycling plastic is a simple and effective way to protect the planet and promote sustainability. By recycling our plastic waste, we can reduce our impact on the environment, conserve resources, and build a brighter future for ourselves and future generations.

HOW TO RECYCLE YOUR Berry PACK

To understand what we can recycle, let's take a look at what our berry packs are currently made of:

  • Plastic pack - 70% post consumer recycled material, RPET
  • Plastic film - 30% post consumer recycled material
  • Fibre pad - 100% fibre, paper-recyclable absorbent pad

Now you know a little more about what's in the pack, here's what to do with the pack to get the most out of it:

  • Plastic pack - empty, ensure it's clean and place in your blue recycling bin or recycling bag
  • Plastic film - remove from pack, ensure it's clean and either recycle from home or take to an out of home recycling points (find one here).
  • Fibre pad - remove from pack, ensure it's clean and place in your blue recycling bin or recycling bag

Let's do this TOGETHER

As a company we've set our sights on a world of good by reducing our environmental impact but we want to do this together.

Working together has numerous benefits for both individuals and the planet. By pooling our resources and knowledge, we can develop more effective and efficient packaging and recycling strategies that are better suited to the unique needs and challenges of our local communities.

Collaboration enables us to amplify our impact and reach more people with our message, which can help to raise awareness and encourage positive behaviour change.

By joining forces and working towards a common goal, we can create a better, cleaner, and more sustainable future for ourselves and future generations.

We would love to hear your thoughts, ideas, or questions and would welcome feedback in the belief that we can achieve more together for our environment through our use of packaging, so please do get in touch.
