BerryWorld organises second Grower Day at their R&D site in Spain
Another successful BerryWorld Grower Day was held in Huelva, Spain, uniting our growers from Portugal, Moroccan and Spain.
Following on from the first Spanish Grower Day last year, the drive for this latest session was to share the results from the raspberry and blueberry trials. The results proved more successful than just better berries, as the relationships among our Southern European grower base grew stronger too.
As to the trials, the key raspberry and blueberry results were presented by the Spanish pre-harvest and post-harvest teams to the 40 attendees who joined us for the day. The raspberry trials focused on planting dates, berry weight, forecasting and harvest speed whilst the blueberry trials centred around pollination, pruning, harvesting and phenology sequence.
Ivan Leache, General Manager of BerryWorld Spain, followed up with a proposal on optimising forecasting for berry production - how the ideal forecasting process should be and how information flows need to work.
The session was followed by a guided visit of the BerryWorld research and development site under clear skies where the growers were able to see first-hand the results presented during the day.
Future BerryWorld Grower Days are already in the planning stages as we look to grow the berry world together.
